2. Types of data processed

Tolki only accesses the following data categories with your explicit consent:

• Microphone: For recording speech input during active interpreter sessions. Recording is performed exclusively on-device and is not stored.
• Speech recognition: Via the iOS framework SFSpeechRecognizer, processed on-device.
• Settings: Language preferences and selected Piper voices are stored locally in the App Group container.

3. Data processing: Entirely local

3.1 Speech recognition

Tolki uses Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer for speech recognition. Processing occurs on-device. No speech data is transmitted to external servers.

3.2 Translation

Translation is performed using the Apple Translation Framework, which operates entirely on-device. Language packs are downloaded once through the Apple system and then used offline.

3.3 Text-to-speech (TTS)

Tolki uses Piper TTS (open source, VITS architecture via sherpa-onnx) and AVSpeechSynthesizer for speech output. Both systems run entirely on-device without any network communication.

4. Data storage

Tolki does not permanently store any conversation content or transcripts. The app stores only your settings (language preferences, silence thresholds, preferred Piper voice) in a protected App Group container on your device.

5. Network communication

Tolki does not communicate with external servers during regular operation. An internet connection is only required for the one-time download of Piper voice models, which you initiate manually in the app settings.

6. Your rights

Since all data resides exclusively on your device, you have full control. You can uninstall the app at any time to delete all stored settings. Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, and delete your data — please contact info@coolblack.gmbh for any such requests.
